MOT history API

A new version of the MOT history API is available. This version replaces previous versions.

Warning

The old API will be turned off later this year. We'll contact users before this happens. If you are using the old API, you'll need to register again to use the new MOT history API.

What data is available?

The new MOT history API now combines all vehicle types into a single API. It also gives access to vehicle data from Northern Ireland.

The new MOT history API includes information about vehicles and MOT tests for:

  • cars, motorcycles and vans and their MOT tests in Great Britain (England, Scotland and Wales) since 2005, and Northern Ireland since 2017
  • HGVs, trailers, buses and coaches in Great Britain since 2018, and Northern Ireland since 2017

The API is based on REST principles. The response data is in JSON format and uses standard HTTP error response codes.
